LG U+ announced on the 7th that it would expand the robot business field to logistics following serving and contribute to the automation of logistics center operations.
LG U+'s logistics robot business aims to realize practical logistics automation by supplying a stable communication network based on its existing smart factory business experience and to improve user convenience by developing and providing a robot control platform. To this end, LG U+ signed a business agreement with YUJIN ROBOT, a company specializing in autonomous driving solutions, for cooperation in the logistics robot business.
YUJIN ROBOT has technologies related to autonomous robots, such as 3D lidar sensors, autonomous driving/functional safety controllers, standard and custom platforms, and system integration (SI). The self-driving robot 'GoCart', which can carry up to 500 kg in weight, has been certified by the robot safety standard 'ISO13482' for the third time globally.
Besides the domestic market, YUJIN ROBOT has been exported to 6 countries worldwide, including Germany and Slovenia. It plans to expand the market to Singapore in the third quarter of this year.
LG Uplus decided it was necessary to launch differentiated logistics robots and logistics automation services quickly to settle early in the new logistics robot market. Yujin accumulated related technologies and used cases for decades.
Through this collaboration, LG U+ will establish a robot usage environment based on 5G communication network and platform. YUJIN ROBOT will provide high-quality logistics robots and business operation know-how.
LG U+ plans to expand the diversification of its robot business, including delivery and guidance, following its entry into the logistics robot business.
LG U+ entered the serving robot market through LG Electronics' serving robot 'CLOi' in September last year.
