LG Electronics(LG) announced on the 16th that it would introduce ‘LG Smart Cottage’, a residential living solution that integrates high-efficiency energy technologies, at IFA 2023, Europe’s largest home appliance exhibition.
Smart Cottage is a small modular house in the form of a second house that combines air-conditioning technology and premium home appliances. After unveiling a prototype in March of this year, LG presented a new concept of residential space, the convergence of space and home appliance services.
At this IFA exhibition, LG Electronics changed the smart cottage's internal structure to suit European market customer preferences. The design, based on the concept of walnut wood tone and finished in light beige, creates a warm atmosphere.
LG explained, "We have introduced a smart cottage modular house that can produce some of its energy to European countries with high interest in energy saving demand."
Solar panels installed on the roof support a significant amount of electricity two adults use daily.
LG implemented a home energy solution that drastically reduces energy consumption by installing a heat pump cooling and heating system, Therma V Monobloc, and stores the remaining electricity in the home ESS system. A charger can also charge electric vehicles (EVs) outside the smart cottage.
“We will present a sustainable housing solution through LG Smart Cottage, a space that realizes LG’s vision of ‘Better Life for All’ for people and the earth,” said Hyangeun Lee, LG Electronics’ managing director.

■LG전자, IFA 2023 '스마트코티지’ 선봬...고효율 에너지 절약 세컨하우스
LG전자가 유럽 최대 가전전시회 IFA 2023에서 고효율 에너지 기술을 집약한 주거 생활 솔루션 ‘LG 스마트 코티지’를 선보인다고 16일 밝혔다.
스마트코티지는 냉·난방 공조기술과 프리미엄 가전을 결합한 세컨하우스(Second House) 형태의 소형 모듈러 주택이다. LG전자는 올해 3월 시제품을 공개한 뒤 공간과 가전 서비스의 융합이란 신개념 주거공간을 제시했다.
이번 IFA 전시회에서 LG전자는 유럽 시장 고객의 선호에 맞게 스마트 코티지 내부 구조를 변경했다. 월넛 우드 톤을 컨셉으로 한 디자인과 밝은 베이지색으로 마무리해 따뜻한 분위기를 연출했다.
LG전자는 "에너지 절약 수요 관심이 높은 유럽 국가들에 에너지 일부를 자체 생산할 수 있는 스마트 코티지 모듈러 주택을 소개하게 됐다"고 설명했다.
지붕에 설치된 태양광 패널은 성인 2명이 하루 사용하는 전기의 상당량을 보조해 준다.
LG전자는 히트펌프 냉난방시스템 ‘써마브이 모노블럭(Therma V Monobloc)’을 설치해 에너지 소비량을 대폭 줄이고, 사용하고 남은 전력은 가정용 ESS 시스템에 저장하는 홈에너지 솔루션을 구현했다. 스마트코티지 외부에는 전기차(EV)를 충전할 수 있는 충전기도 갖췄다.
LG전자 이향은 상무는 “LG전자의 비전인 사람과 지구를 위한 ‘모두의 더 나은 삶(Better Life for All)’을 구현하는 공간인 LG 스마트코티지를 통해 지속가능한 주거 솔루션을 제시해 나갈 것”이라고 말했다.
