It no longer comes as a surprise to see LG Electronics' voluntary retirement. It is because that LG Electronics' woes are becoming an annual event.
According to the industry on the 28th, LG Electronics announced, through the intranet, that it would implement voluntary retirement on the 27th. This notice came out again after about a year since March last year.
The target of voluntary retirement is employees over the age of 55 and those with poor performance in recent years.
For those subject to voluntary retirement, up to three years of the annual salary will be paid for voluntary retirement. The company plans to proceed with voluntary retirement by next month.
LG Electronics has been in an emergency management system since the announcement of last year's results. Last year, it recorded annual sales of 80 trillion won for the first time, but its annual operating profit decreased by 12.5% from the previous year.
In particular, in the fourth quarter of last year, operating profit recorded 69.3 billion won due to sluggish TV and home appliances, a 90.7% drop compared to the same period last year.
"This is for a virtuous cycle of manpower within the organization, and new recruitment and investment will continue regardless of the number of voluntary retirements," said an LG Electronics official.
