Daewoong Pharmaceutical announced on the 3rd that the botulinum toxin Nabota (Export name Jubo, The U.S.) had obtained positive interim results for long-lasting effects in high-dose clinical trials for patients with frown lines.
An American partner, Evolus announced the interim results(Extra Strength) of the phase 2 clinical trial at the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (IMCAS) held in Paris, France on the 28th of last month, administering a high dose that was twice as high as the existing 20 units per week and observing the improvement of frown wrinkles for 6 months.
This clinical trial had been conducted from March last year on 150 patients under the age of 65 with moderate to severe glabellar wrinkles. Evolus confirmed a long-lasting effect of 6 months or 26 weeks when 40 units were administered and said there were no serious side effects.

대웅제약은 보툴리눔 톡신 나보타(미국 수출명 주보)가 미간주름 환자를 대상으로 실시한 고용량 임상에서 장기지속 효과에 대해 긍정적인 중간 결과를 도출했다고 3일 밝혔다.
미국 파트너사 에볼루스는 지난달 28일 프랑스 파리에서 열린 국제미용성형학회(IMCAS)에서 기존 주보 20유닛 대비 2배 가량 용량을 높인 고용량을 투여하고 6개월 간 미간주름 개선 효과를 관찰한 ‘엑스트라 스트렝스(Extra Strength)’ 임상 2상 중간 결과를 발표했다.
이번 임상은 65세 미만의 미간주름 중등도 내지 중증 이상의 150명의 환자를 대상으로 작년 3월부터 진행됐다. 에볼루스는 40유닛 투여 시 6개월 또는 26주의 장기지속 효과를 확인했으며, 심각한 부작용이 없었다고 밝혔다.
임상 결과는 앞으로 환자들의 클리닉 방문횟수 감소에 따른 편의성 등의 증대로 이어질 것으로 기대된다.
